Snow Melt on Paper
February 5, 2019. 30 Degrees Fahrenheit. Over the course of a full day, with a 10% chance of snow in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, a 22 x 33 sheet of Rives BFK collected snowfall. Photos document the process of and marks made by snow melt on paper. Finally, ink was added to the water and slurry on paper as a record of the drawing. Snow Melt on Paper is an inquiry into drawing using landscape, performance, and time and is part of a larger series of works on paper called The Water Drawings that includes The Tide Drawings, The Rain Drawings, and Drawings from Shotpouch Creek.
